Psychotherapy for complex trauma, developmental trauma, and the patterns they leave behind. Long-term, relational work in Singapore.
At Emergence Psychology, we work with people carrying the effects of trauma that began early and ran long. It shows up in families, in relationships, and in the body. Our work is psychodynamic. We take the past seriously, because it is rarely finished with us.
Whether you are seeking help for complex trauma, PTSD, longstanding relational patterns, or a sense that something is repeating that you cannot quite name, this is a practice built for depth rather than speed.
Led by Clinical Psychologist Desmond Soh, the practice is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment thinking, shaped by experience across hospitals, workplace mental-health settings, and private practice.
"There is no present or future, only the past happening over and over again, now."
Eugene O’Neill
Emergence is the idea that simple parts, when connected, create something greater than themselves. The same is true of a person. None of it arrives from nowhere: not our symptoms, not our patterns, not the way we reach for others or the way we withdraw. They emerge from what happened to us, and from what we had to do to survive it.
No life is untouched by pain, but some pain is structural. When harm comes early, or repeats, or comes from the people who were meant to keep us safe, it does not stay a memory. It becomes the shape of how we see ourselves and what we expect from everyone else.
We are less interested in managing symptoms than in understanding what they are for: what they once protected you from, and at what cost. Growth isn’t about fixing; it’s about emerging.
As Maya Angelou reminds us, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." The stories we
carry shape how we move through life.
At Emergence Psychology, we approach complexity with curiosity rather than urgency. The work supports you to make meaning of your inner world, grieve what was lost, and emerge into a more empowered sense of self.
